Amit & Shradha's Sangeet Night

I hope everyone had a great Easter. I'm back in action after a couple of days off with what my Nana used to call a dickey tummy! Rumours that this might be connected with the number of Easter eggs I consumed are, of course, completely unfounded.

The weekend was particularly special for Shradha and Amit who celebrated their marriage. It was a wonderful event, and an extremely colourful affair. This series of shots was taken at their Sangeet night last Thursday. The first image shows Amit being given a traditional welcome by Shradha's mother. It was of course a very happy night, though Amit's big grin here was as much to do with the fun and games that surround this ceremony. As part of the welcome, the mother-in-law to-be is permitted to pinch the groom's nose, and immediately prior to this shot there was plenty of ducking and diving as Amit sought to protect his nose!




After Amit's welcome, his bride was presented to him by some of the male members of Shradha's family. They processed in with great pride, and here's the moment where Shradha catches Amit's eye.



After the ceremonials were over, the music and dancing began. It was quite a sight to see so many beautiful oufits circling around the hall.



And here's a shot that shows the energy of the occasion. I'd say the dancing lasted two solid hours and everyone was left pretty worn out at the end. It was great fun, though, and a wonderful way to build up to the big day itself.
