Fermanagh Landscapes

So the last leg of our trip to Ireland took us to Co Fermanagh. We stayed at the Lough Erne Resort and Spa, just outside Enniskillen. This series of images was taken early in the morning while the rest of the family were having a much-needed lie-in! The first shot shows a handful of the lodges you can stay in - the views over the lough are stunning:

This little stream winds round part of the golf course at the hotel:

The light at this time of day is, of course, wonderful for atmospheric shots like this image of the hotel from the jetty:

This is the same jetty, covered in hoare frost, with the mist-draped lough in the background:

As the sun rose over the hotel, the lough shore was bathed in a gorgeous warm glow of morning light:

That's all from the Ireland trip. Hope you enjoyed these images. I'll post some more portrait work in the next few days.

Lough Neagh Portraits

Although our recent trip to Ireland was planned around Rory's christening, I also took the opportunity to take a few portraits of other family members. My niece Fionnuala braved the freezing cold by the shores of Lough Neagh for a five-minute session on this jetty:

She did well not to get her heels jammed in between the planks, though falling into the lough was the more frightening prospect!

For this shot I've cropped in quite a way and the played around in Photoshop to achieve the final look. The clear white sky helped to give a high-key effect to these shots, though the light was beginning to dwindle at this stage.

But there was still just enough time to grab a few shots of Donny, Tasha and little Kyra:

Kyra is just days away from her first birthday, so Happy Birthday princess!

There was just enough time to get a quick family shot:

My next post will probably feature a few shots from the latter half of our trip, when we took a couple of days beside Lough Erne in Fermanagh. Bye for now,
David

Say Hello to Baby Rory

It seems appropriate that the first set of images I post on my new blog should depict a new life. So here's a small collection of images I took last week when my lovely wife and I took our two boys to Ireland for a family Christening. Our nephew Rory was just 11 weeks old when these images were made. And can't you just see how proud of him his parents Aoibhin and Mark are!

After cracking a joke or two, Fr Gregory got to work over the font:

The following day, we shot some relaxed portraits in Rory's new home. Here are two of my favourites:

Isn't that such a cheeky smile? This next image was great fun to capture - I love the colours:

I shot a lot of images while we were away and will be posting more here in the next few days. But that's all for now. Take care,
David

Portrait Sitting Fees Reduced to Just £25

To celebrate the publication of my new Blog, I am pleased to announce a major reduction in my portrait sitting fee. The usual fee of £45 is now cut to just £25.

Sitting fees cover the cost of your portrait shoot and the viewing session a few days later. A portrait shoot usually lasts around an hour and can be held in your home or on location nearby. And we have a great choice of locations in this area, including the National Trust's Ashridge Estate where I took some wonderful shots recently on a morning out with a group of fellow photographers. I'll be publishing some of the images here in the next few days, so keep an eye out for them.

This offer is open until 31 March 2008. And given that you can purchase a framed 10" x 8" print for just £75, you could have a beautiful new lifestyle image to display in your home for as little as £100. Give me a call or email me to discuss your ideas and book your session. I look forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to my blog

Hi, thanks for taking the trouble to view my blog. This is my first post, so I thought I'd start simply by saying a word or two about how I hope to use the blog to keep in touch with my friends and clients, and how hopefully you will use it, too.

You won't be surprised to learn that the main purpose of my blog will be to show my current work. I aim to post a selection of images from the weddings I cover and also from my portrait sessions. My hope is that these shots will wet your appetite so that you are all the more excited about coming in for your viewing. And you can also tell your friends and family to log on and view the shots, too.

I don't spend all my time photographing people. When the opportunity arises I like to try my hand at other styles of photography, too. So on occasions I'll post a few images here for you to view.

The blog won't simply be about displaying images, though. From time to time I'll be using this as a place to highlight special offers, test out a few ideas, or simply to relate the odd amusing story.

I hope you'll find plenty to interest you here. Do please leave a comment if anything you see or read stirs you in any way.

Keep safe everyone,
David
